Sisters

Peanuts & Mee-Mee
This image reminds me of an evening walking down the hallway at the Oberlin Inn in Ohio.  My sister Heather & I were walking behind my 2 Aunts - Peanuts and Mee-Mee.  My initial thought was - wow I'm the tallest in the hallway for this brief moment...lol

But then Heather & I commented ... that will probably be us in 50 years !  Still enjoying each others company. Laughing as we walk. And shorter than our nieces ...  ;-)

Wendy & Penny
Now some sisters like my mom & her sister Penny (I've always loved this picture of them) and Aunts Mee-Mee and Peanuts are close in age.  They have great stories of growing up together.  I think Peanuts & Penny shared the instigator gene among the sisters.  With my mom & Mee-Mee having the more responsible big sister role to fill.

Heather & I have a 13 year span between us.  By default I have fallen comfortably into the big sister role, at times probably bordering on mothering ... hopefully not smothering.  When I did live in Texas I have fond memories of choreographing some fancy footwork to Footloose for Heather and a friend.  Or helping her transform into Annie Oakley for a school project.  I moved to Toronto when Heather was 10 years old.  Somehow though, we have always been able to maintain a close relationship over the miles.  School, boys, girlfriends, work, fashion, the 'boy'. Technology has been a godsend. The ability to text a funny thought, words of encouragement or a ;-) keeps us involved with each other on a daily basis.  Now that she is a mom - I'm so glad to be able to share this next chapter with my sister.
