Accessorizing ....

Kate
Haley

I received a photo of my niece Kate recently entitled "accessorizing at 17 months".  Starting off with jewelry - very smart girl. And clearly walking in the footsteps of her cousin.  Haley is noted for her fashion sense, including hairdos and scarves.  I like to think this is something that I share with them now and which I will continue to share with my nieces as we all get older ;-)
I have always loved accessorizing whether it be shoes  jewelry, scarves, belts or purses. Sometimes I will plan my wardrobe of the day around a certain necklace or shoe that I would like to wear.

Accessories aren't just items that we wear to change the look of an outfit, although we are grateful that they do. They hold memories for us. Memories of how they came to us - gifts, shopping trips, passed down from other family members.  They also hold memories of special events we attended while wearing them - my sister's wedding, a lunch with my Aunt.

My mom has given me some of my most unique pieces like the red one pictured  As you can see by a peek into my collection I tend to lean towards silver versus gold. And I think it's funny that 50th anniversaries are celebrated by gold, because approaching 50 is certainly at a time when I seem to be acquiring much more silver ...as my hair colour treatments can attest ;-)
