From Kindergarten to ...

This picture is from my first day of school. (As you can see, my fashion side has been part of me from at least Kindergarten...lol.) I have always enjoyed school. (  I'm fortunate in that I was generally a good student.  Reading was my favorite subject in school - I actually won the reading award in 6th grade. In junior high school I was chosen to participate in a speed reading course, which has served me well both through school and my career.

So it was not surprising to me when I received my results of a strengths assessment (Strengths Finder 2.0) that Learner was in my top 5 strengths.  "People who are especially talented in the Learner theme have a great desire to learn and want to continuously improve."

Personalized insights on my Learner Strength include:
  • Chances are good that you feel life is wonderful when you can channel your mental and physical energy into things that intrigue you.
  • Your interest is ordinarily piqued — that is, awakened by activities, ideas, problems, opportunities, and people that challenge your mind.
  • Driven by your talents, you might place a high value on seeking and gathering specific kinds of information.
  • It’s very likely that you probably identify the traits or experiences that distinguish one person from the next.Once you familiarize yourself with someone, you can often predict with accuracy how the person will react in different situations
I certainly felt these insights reflected what I feel about myself from a Learner perspective. Now I'm learning how to leverage these strengths from a leadership perspective.

And if you were curious ....rounding out my top 5 strengths - Strategic, Ideation, Individualization & Achiever.
