August is here

When I started my countdown to fifty it was July, which seemed still far away from my actual birthday. But today is August 1st and the countdown has really hit home.  So, I decided to do a bit of research on the month of August.

• It is the eighth month of the year.  
• The zodiac signs for the month of August are Leo (until August 22) and Virgo (from August 23 onwards).
• August is Happiness Happens Month as declared by the Secret Society of Happy People (and no I did not make this up). Interesting as I've just recently downloaded a ringtone of the song Happy by Pharrell Williams and it does make me in a happy mood when I hear it.  Also Happy Feet is up there in my top 20 movies. Maybe membership in the Secret Society is in order ;-)
• My Aunt Penny (August 12) and my Grandpa Charlie (Aug 24) shared birthday months with me. 
• My birthday often, as it does this year, falls on Labour Day weekend which can be a bonus when travelling celebrations are in order.

• August's traditional birthstone is the peridot which is considered a stone of lightness and beauty. The less traditional August birthstone is the Sardonyx which is considered a stone of strength and protection. (I see an interesting jewelry opportunity)
• August also seems to have two birth flowers. The first the gladiolus represents calm, integrity and infatuation. The second, the poppy, has different significance depending on the color.

So to sum it up, those born in August are happy, beautiful, strong, calm persons of integrity, who enjoy peridot jewelry and bouquets of gladiolus.

Not so bad being born in August !
